You can make easy-dutch-oven-recipes that are tasty

Here are a couple really easy-dutch-oven-recipes that we love to cook when we are camping. You'll need a nice bed of coals to cook on.

Dutch Oven Baked Chicken

1 Whole Chicken, cut up
1/2 Yellow Onion, sliced thick
1/2 C. White Flour
1 t. salt
1/2 t. pepper
Bottle of your favorite BBQ Sauce
Vegetable Oil

Coat the bottom of the Dutch Oven with oil, about 1/4" deep. Mix flour, salt, and pepper in a medium sized ziplock bag. Rinse chicken pieces with water and shake individually in flour, coating evenly. Place chicken pieces in bottom of dutch oven and top with onion slices.

Place lid on Dutch oven and twist it a quarter turn to seal. Place on a nice bed of coals and arrange more coals on top of lid. Check it after 30 minutes. You are looking to see that the temperature of the coals is not too hot or cold. Adjust coals accordingly. Let cook 15 more minutes then add the entire bottle of BBQ sauce stirring slightly to coat evenly. Let cook 10 minutes or until the sauce is hot and bubbly. ENJOY!

Dutch Oven Cheesy Potatoes

6 large potatoes, sliced, peeled optional
1 small onion, chopped
4 bacon strips cooked and crumbled
1/2 c. vegetable oil
1 can of cream of mushroom soup
1/4 c. milk
8 oz shredded cheese
salt and pepper to taste

In a large bowl, mix the first 4 ingredients together and pour into a 12" Dutch Oven. In a small bowl, whisk soup and milk together until mixed well. Pour over potato mixture and cover with lid. Twist the lid a quarter of a turn. Place on a medium bed of coals and cover with additional coals on top. Bake 30 minutes and then stir mixture and check tenderness of potatoes. Cook longer if needed. When potatoes are soft, remove from coals and top with cheese. Yummy!

Tip: Try using pepper jack cheese for a zesty dish. Also, more bacon is delicious.

Easy dutch-oven-cobbler

1 can Apple Pie Filling
1 box white cake mix
1 can of 7-up

This is the easiest desert you'll ever make when you are outdoor cooking. I call it the dump cake. Dump the pie filling into the bottom of the Dutch Oven. Dump the cake mix on top. Pour the 7-up over top of the cake mix. Take a knife and pull it through the mixture in the shape of a tic-tac-toe board. Place the lid on and twist a quarter of a turn and place on light bed of coals. Arrange a few more coals on top of lid and let bake for 30 minutes. Check the center of the cake. It should be dry, not gooey. Great served with ice cream or whip topping. Enjoy your easy-dutch-oven-recipes
