The roll you have in horse-medicine in Understanding parasites and illness in horses
When I talk about horse-medicine, it includes all the preventative care your horse needs from you as well as your veterinarian. The preventative care I would like to talk about is parasites.

Horses are constantly exposed to internal parasites (worms), so they must be dewormed on a regular basis. Worms can damage a horse's blood vessels, intestines, lungs, and heart.
The parasites that invades the heart is called a heart worms.
As you see by the photo the heart worms lives in the heart.
If horses are not treated with the horse-medicine the worms cause congestive heart failure and kill the horse.
Anthelcide dewormer is only one of the many
medications
that treat heart worms. Imagine, this can save your horse's life.
Roundworms or Pinworms: are stomach parasites, found in horses.
Roundworm eggs are found in irrigation water or pastures that have been fertilized with manure, also hay that comes in contact with manure.
Horses swallow the roundworm eggs as they eat and drink. The larvae mature into adults in the horse's intestines and lay eggs, which come out with the manure.
Deworming your horse on a regular basis is very important because, the roundworms irritate a horses rectum causing them to rub their tail and rear end against trees, fences, etc.
The constant rubbing can cause sores to form and become infected.
This Jeffers Ivermectin is called a purge wormer. An oral syringe, with a worming paste, is given to the horse, via the mouth. Like the one in the photo.
Large and small Strongylus damage a horse's blood vessels, digestive system, and other internal organs.
Strongylus can cause a horse to have colic(stomachache) because they cause damage to the stomach and intestines.
Continvex daily Dewormer is only one brand of the continuous dewormer,it comes in pellet form and is placed in the horse's food.
This continuous wormer is a mild low dose and may be easier on the horse but may not be effective in killing worms in a heavily infected horse and can contribute to drug resistance.
Veterinarians usually recommend that you rotate different dewormers because some parasites can develop immunity to a wormer if repeatedly used. Following the veterinarian's advise will ensure good horse health.
